French Edwardian 18K White Gold Platinum Diamond & Sapphire Ring
A truly elegant and rare treasure from the early 20th century, this antique French ring showcases the refined craftsmanship and delicate artistry that defined the jewelry from the Belle Epoque. Crafted in 18K white gold and platinum—a hallmark of Edwardian jewelry—this ring features an intricately designed openwork lattice head with milligram frame on the border.
On the head of the ring lies five old European/mine cut diamonds: the central diamond, bezel-set and weighing approximately 0.30 carats, is surrounded by four smaller companions totaling around 0.40 carats. With an estimated color grade of G and clarity of VS2, these stones radiate a soft, captivating brilliance. Surrounding this central composition is a frame of twinkling rose-cut diamonds, enhancing the ring’s antique sparkle. The main diamond rests upon a geometric panel of finely calibre-cut blue sapphires, masterfully set to echo the symmetry and elegance of the era.
Edwardian jewelry (circa 1901–1915) is known for its light, lacy designs, made possible by the advent of platinum in fine jewelry. Jewelers of this era embraced intricate filigree, delicate motifs, and the use of platinum for its strength and ability to hold fine detail—all of which are beautifully reflected in this ring.
A graceful example of antique French craftsmanship, a perfect addition to any discerning collection / unique antique engagement ring for someone really special.
