Curiously timeless
Romantic French antique blue sheen moonstone ruby silver negligee necklace
For sale a very romantic negligee necklace dated back from the early 20th century (circa 1910s).
A négligée is a necklace of fine links with two parallel pendants that are suspended at different lengths – asymmetrically. This necklace came into fashion around 1900s. The necklace in front of us is a great example of this romantic design, with two beautiful moonstone cabochons dropped from a larger central moonstone. The three gems convey the most desirable & magic hue of greyish blue, which shines even under the day light. Two beautiful rubies in vivid purplish red tone highlight the whole design, contrast the moonstone in color and in texture.
According to Hindu mythology, moonstone is made of solidified moonbeams. Many other cultures also associate this gem with moonlight, and it’s easy to see why. Its internal structure scatters the light that hits it and creates a phenomenon known as adularescence. The visual effect is reminiscent of the full moon shining through a veil of high, thin clouds.
Legends say that moonstone brings good luck. Many believed that you could see the future if you held a moonstone in your mouth during a full moon.
This beautiful necklace will make a magic gift for this year end!
