Curiously timeless
Rare Antique eagle and griffin carnelian seal stamp fob pendant
For sale a superb and rare French gold and silver seal fob pendant with a triple matrix in carnelian, dating from the 19th century, the Victorian era. The taking of the seal is composed of an eagle and a griffin, facing the golden column.
The two animals facing each other are crafted with great attention to details, their wings symmetrically forming a place where the fingers naturally fit to use the seal! The carnelian is not engraved so it can be personalized later by its future caretaker.
The seal fob can be worn today on a ribbon or on a gold chain as a unique pendant.
A seal is a device for making an impression in wax, clay, paper, or some other medium, including an embossment on paper. The original purpose was to authenticate a document, or to prevent interference with a package or envelope by applying a seal which had to be broken to open the container
