Vintage retro 18K gold blue sapphire diamond bombe star ring

For sale a vintage gold ring from the mid-century. This 18K gold statement ring features 15 stars made of diamonds and blue sapphires. The 8 diamonds are in rose cut style and the ring weights a remarkable 9.6 grams. It is French made during the retro period, where where bold solid gold rings are very popular and 18K yellow gold is preferred over other type of jewelry. 

The name “Bombé” ring is Inspired by the French Dessert “Bombe glacée”. This smooth and rounded design is very popular in France during the 1950s. On the other hand, cosmic motifs have been long time enthralled jewelers, from Roman times to the Victorian era, when stars and moons frequently adorned brooches and pendants: Stars are considered as a symbol of guidance and wisdom in the jewelry from the Victorian era; and star designs also symbolized the direction wearers would need in their life.
