Curiously timeless

Victorian era garnet scarab pendant with diamond, ruby and pearl

€0

For sale a Victorian era pendant made from the 19th century featuring a beautiful scarab.

The body of the little scarab is made of two garnet cabochons. They have an attractive transparent and silky texture, possessing a rich Bordeaux red color that captures the eye.

The head of the scarab is adorned with sparkling rose cut diamonds, while its eyes are made of radiant red rubies that add a pop of color to the piece. A white seed pearl is also added to bring more brightness and softness. The stones are mounted in silver and the pendant in 18K yellow gold. It is believed to have been converted from an antique pin.

The scarab was a highly revered symbol in ancient Egyptian culture, representing transformation, regeneration, and rebirth. This is due to the insect's ability to lay its eggs in the soil, which then hatch and emerge as new life.

The scarab was also associated with the sun god Ra, who was believed to have rolled the sun across the sky in the same way that the scarab rolls its dung ball. This association with the sun god gave the scarab a further symbolism of resurrection and renewal, as the sun rose each morning, bringing light and warmth to the world.

As the spring season approaches, this pendant becomes even more charming and significant, reminding us of the revival of all living things. It will be a meaningful antique piece of jewelry to offer or to add into your collection.
