Victorian era 18K gold turquoise diamond marquise ring

€1,500

Only 1 piece in stock!

For sale a 19th century, Victorian era 18K gold marquise ring featuring a beautiful turquoise with a circle of rose cut diamonds around.

The central turquoise cabochon shows a beautiful waxy greenish blue color and it measures 15mm in length and 12mm in width. Its color is as fresh as the spring sky. The 26 rose cut diamonds around have a total estimated weight of approximately 0,65cts. Altogether, they offer a very sparkling and a larger-looking design (the head of the ring measures 25mm*10mm!) than the traditional round cabochon rings and elongate the finger when the ring is worn. The ring is mounted in 18K yellow gold and it has the French eagle’s head hallmark on the shank. It is also numbered with “745”.

Civilizations have cherished turquoise for thousands of years. Its multi-layered history and soul-satisfying color make it a desirable gem. The gem’s name comes from the French expression “pierre turque”, or “Turkish stone.” The name, which originated in the thirteenth century, reflects the fact that the material probably first arrived in Europe from Turkish sources.
