Victorian 18K gold diamond sapphire snake sword brooch pendant
A striking jewel from the Victorian era, this 19th century brooch-pendant is masterfully designed as a coiled serpent entwined around a sword, evoking echoes of the Rod of Asclepius. The serpent’s body and the upper section of the sword are pavé-set with 46 rose-cut diamonds of approximately 2.00 carats in total. The serpent’s head is crowned with a glowing round cabochon-cut blue sapphire (0.2ct), while the sword’s pommel is accented by a richly hued cushion-cut blue sapphire (0.15ct).
Each gemstone is set in silver over 18K yellow gold with open backs, allowing light to play through the stones. The sword itself, along with the brooch pin, is crafted entirely in 18K yellow gold. A discreet silver bale is set at the back of the sword’s hilt, enabling the jewel to be worn also as a pendant.
A symbol of wisdom, healing, and eternal strength, this rare Victorian jewel embodies both beauty and meaning, making it a timeless treasure of the 19th century.
