Curiously timeless
Very sentimental French Antique 18K gold Daisy and pansy Flower Rock crystal locket pendant
In front of us a very rare and lovely antique 18k gold locket: In the center, a pure and large white daisy flower; next to it some pansy flowers in beautiful purplish-blue colors.
The magnificent bouquet is hand painted on a gold sheet before inserting into a cabochon cut rock crystal. Despite its age, the bouquet reserved a lively and enchanting mix of colors. When look at it closely, you will also be impressed by its very refined and elegant twisted gold wire frame. The locket is dated back to the 19th century.
In the 19th century, many jewelry designs take the style of the daisy flowers, which are the symbol of innocence, youth, gentleness and purity of thought. Daisy flowers can be seen on the love tokens, medals, as well as silver bracelets and necklaces.
On the other hand, the name pansy comes from the French word "Penser", meaning “to think about someone/something.” This gives pansies as a gesture of friendship and platonic love. Since the Victorian era, pansies are wildly used in antique jewelry as a symbol of love. A pansy flower can be given as a subtle message to say " I miss you" or "I love you".
The choice of combining the two symbolic flowers on a locket makes this piece very sentimental. The locket opens and closes well, allowing you to store your secrets and memories in a gorgeous antique piece of jewelry which reflects the style, designs and motifs of a bygone era.
The watch chain extender on the photo is not included in the listing but can be purchased separately in our shop.
