Refined vintage 14K gold blue sapphire filigree pendant

For sale a very rare find of a refined example of a large gold filigree pendant, showing very high-quality goldsmith skills. The pendant uses the delicate method of making jewelry, which use the very fine gold wires which are doubled over, twisted together and then rolled flat. The filigree is used on edge, scrolled and curved into delicate patterns which are fixed within an outer framework. Look closely at the pendant, you will see the detail of each small motif, showing a gold bead carefully soldered with a wire spiral. The best filigree is open-backed and it is just what we have here.

On the pendant, there are 5 round faceted blue sapphires in bezel setting. The central one measures 5.5mm in diameter and the 4 smaller ones measure 2.5 in diameter. The blue sapphires show very saturated blue color in medium dark tone. They provide an elegant contrast to the buttery golden color.

The pendant has the 585 hallmark on the back for 14k yellow gold.

When we look at this piece, we imagine a highly skillfully craftsman manipulates the materials like a magician, always knowing exactly how to arrive to provide the maximum of the pleasure to the next caretaker of the jewelry he made!

In overall very good vintage condition; very slight traces of use.

Two tiny gold spheres are missing on the outer frame under X10 magnifier, not visible when the pendant is worn.

585 hallmark for 14K gold on the back of the pendant, near to its bail.
