Magnificent French antique Opal dome cabochon Diamond 18K gold brooch

€0

Opal is the world’s most popular phenomenal gem. Many cultures have credited opal with supernatural origins and powers. Arabic legends say it falls from the heavens in flashes of lightning. The ancient Greeks believed opals gave their owners the gift of prophecy and guarded them from disease. Europeans have long considered the gem a symbol of hope, purity, and truth.

For sale a magnificent French antique opal brooch dated back to the mid 19th century (circa 1860). The large and beautifully matched opals with a desirable blue and red play-of-color make this brooch very valuable. The central opal is cut in a large dome cabochon with a weight of approximately 5cts, while the smaller opals weight approximately 0.5cts each, making a total weight of circa 6cts.

The opals are surrounded by 30 rose cut diamonds for a total weight of circa 1.5cts, which definitely add brilliance and sparkle; while the 18k yellow gold mounting complements the opals’ magical blue tone.

This beautiful brooch will be a wonderful gift to offer or to receive and we believe it will bring style confidence and pride of ownership to the wearer!
