Magnificent French antique Opal dome cabochon Diamond 18K gold brooch

For sale a magnificent French antique opal brooch dated back to the mid 19th century (circa 1860). The large and beautifully matched opals with a desirable blue and red play-of-color make this brooch very valuable. The central opal is cut in a large dome cabochon with a weight of approximately 5cts, while the smaller opals weight approximately 0.5cts each, making a total weight of circa 6cts.
The opals are surrounded by 30 rose cut diamonds for a total weight of circa 1.5cts, which definitely add brilliance and sparkle; while the 18k yellow gold mounting complements the opals’ magical blue tone.

In overall very good antique condition. Very slight trace of use on the gold.
A very slight hairline on the central cabochon is visible under certain lighting and angle.
