Lucky French Antique Victorian era 18K gold horseshoe locket pendant
Today, when mobile phones are used to store information, photos and videos, there is something romantic and magical about wearing a piece of jewelry that holds personal memories, and antique lockets continue to be one of our favorite types of jewelry for just this reason.
For sale a very beautiful French antique 18K locket pendant, featuring a lucky horseshoe on the front. There are 5 natural seed pearls encrusted on the horseshoe. It opens and closes very well. The locket is dated back to the mid 19th century, the Victorian era.
The horseshoe has been considered a symbol of good luck for a long time. It is believed that horseshoes were first used as good luck symbols from the 9th century AD. Part of its attraction is because it is claimed it has the shape of a crescent which was linked to worship of the moon in a number of cultures. But the more common believe is that horseshoes were once used to protect a house from elves or fairies, as well as from the devil.
