Lovely French antique amethyst pearl 14k gold brooch

Waving goodbye to the green tone of the summer, we welcome the deep and warm violet color of this lovely brooch as one of our favorite hues. The purple color is once been described as: “A shade communicates originality, ingenuity, and visionary thinking that points us towards the future.” A description that fits in with the qualities of amethyst.

This beautiful French antique brooch features a central step cut amethyst with a weight of circa 5cts, surrounded by 24 seed pearls. The amethyst conveys a gentle purple color which shows a very good clarity, contrasting beautifully with the bright creamy color of the pearls. The combination is very elegant and versatile: we see this brooch on a little black dress, on the collar of a sweater or on a more causal outfit.

Amethyst has been the most prized member of the quartz family for centuries. Early Greek legends, and its wine-purple color, associated amethyst with Bacchus, the god of wine. Other legends led to beliefs that amethyst gems kept their wearers clearheaded and quick witted in battle and in their business affairs.
