A natural pearl forms in a pearl-bearing mollusk with no human intervention or assistance. Due to the overfishing, the discovery of the oil industry in the Persian Gulf, and the marketing of the cultured pearls by 1920s, natural pearls are becoming extremely rare to find today.
For sale a magnificent 18K white gold and platinum pin brooch dated back to the early 20th century, featuring a very large natural salt water baroque hollow pearl*. The pearl measures an exceptional large size of 13.7*17.4*19.1mm and it is certified as a hollow pearl formed without any human interventions by the LFG (French Gemological laboratory). It takes on average 10 years for a mollusk to form a natural pearl of the size of 8mm so it is a real bless that we have this wonderful antique jewelry in our curation. Its certificate indicates that it has an excellent luster as well.
We love its attractive light pinky hue on the warm white body color, its irregular shape which adds lots of personalities and characters, not mention the excellence of craftsmanship: the bottom of the pearl is decorated with 5 rose cut diamonds and the cabochon of the pin 6 graduated rose cut diamonds. Their icy appearance balances the softness of the pearl and all together they form a timeless chic combination. The pin brooch is hallmarked with the French mascaron hallmark for platinum and French owl hallmark for 18K white gold.
