Large Vintage 18K gold Augis “more than yesterday less than tomorrow” love medal

Built upon a romantic French poetry, this rare French 18K yellow gold love medal pendant, signed by Augis, arrived just in time of this year to express your love in the most unusual way. The medal has a beautiful wreath frame and it shows a very large size (23mm in diameter and weights over 6.6g!) compared to most of the Augis medals, which is very rare to find today. The frame is double engraved on the front side but also on the back side.

On the surface of the medal, the symbol means «+ qu’hier – que demain »: I love you more than I did yesterday and less than I will tomorrow. The back of the medal is not engraved so it is possible to personalize the medal for its future caretaker.

This very sentimental medal gives us a moment to reflect on the special place our beloved ones have in our hearts. Behind the story: the French saying comes from the poem wrote by Mrs. Rosemonde Gerard to her lover and husband: Edmond Rostand, the famous French writer of Cyrano de Bergerac, a dramatic love play. Alphonse Augis, a famous French jeweler from Lyon, made a love medal with this verse written on it. It has become one of the most collectible pieces of jewelry and welcomed by the collectors from all over the world. The first Augis love token/medal appears in 1907.

French eagle’s head hallmark for 18K gold and a maker’s mark on the bail.
