Curiously timeless

Heartwarming French Antique cherub with dog enameled portrait 18K gold pearl brooch

€0

Animals have always been a great inspiration for the jewelry creation and dogs have always been a popular motif in antique, vintage and modern pieces.

The antique brooch in front of us is one of the most heartwarming pieces we’ve curated recently, featuring a cherub caressing his dog. The little dog is licking the face of the cherub with his paw on the knees of his owner. The doggy shows a joyful face: he must be enjoying the precious time passed between the two. We can feel a deep affection and lots of softness between them. This lovely scene is realized on a green guilloche panel with enameled circular & floral patterns, surrounded by 43 pearls with a grayish cream hue. Its large size makes it an absolute statement piece. The brooch is mounted in 18K yellow gold and is dated back to the late 19th century.

Since the Victorian era, dogs start to be shown as a symbol of loyalty, friendship and faithfulness in jewelry. This piece is a very rare, unique and excellent example of our love toward this most lovable and devoted animal.

Special thanks to B (you know who you are), who provided us the most beautiful comment on this lovely piece "So intriguing, colors making a beautiful and striking impression around a lovely animal, a story untold but it stirs the imagination - who loved and cared for them, who ran their hands along their soft and smooth backs and brought a special happiness into their lives? and now their beauty is forever captured and speaks to the world, making the time and surrounding all of us with a enchanting memory awash in a incredible beauty all of their own!"
