French antique 18k gold Onyx seed pearl star sleeper earrings

These darling Victorian Sleeper earrings are crafted in solid 18k yellow gold and they feature two gold stars, each with a natural seed pearl in the center.

The onyx conveys a luxurious and subtle black color, completing perfectly the buttery gold color of the earrings. The stars add an extra heartwarming touch to the whole design and they are surrounded by equally very elegant golden frames. To finish, the earrings have a back to front closure for pierced ears.

The sleeper earrings (or dormeuse in French) were often worn to bed to keep the earlobe hole from closing during the mourning period of Queen Victorian, when ears were covered by hair and could not be seen. They are hence very comfortable to be worn and can be paired easily with any outfit.

The box in the photo is not for sale with the earrings.
