French 18K gold diamond cherry flower brooch, by Chevrier Huot Didelot
This elegant rose brooch, crafted in 18K yellow gold and dating from the second half of the 20th century, is a remarkable example of French high jewelry craftsmanship.
The piece is signed by Chevrier Huot Didelot, established at 51 Rue Vivienne, Paris. The Chevrier, Huot et Didelot workshop specialized in fine goldsmithing and collaborated with many prestigious houses from the Place Vendôme, including Hermès — notably for its emblematic horseshoe jewelry — as well as Cartier, for which the workshop is commissioned to create animal brooches for the brand.
The brooch in particular is beautifully sculpted in the form of a blooming cherry flower, with petals rendered in finely worked relief. Delicate engraved gold strips imitate the stems of the flower, while tiny round gold engravements evoke drops of morning dew. At the center of the rose are 7 brilliant-cut diamonds, totaling approximately 0.70 carats, graded H–I color and VS clarity.
Substantial yet graceful, the brooch reflects both the quality and the luxurious character of its craftsmanship.
