With the return of lockets, seals and vignettes, sometimes worn with other charms on chased split rings, it is finally time for these unique decorative watches on long chains make their way onto the necks of jewelry collectors.

For sale a beautiful French pocket watch pendant enameled in a comforting deep green color. The front of the watch features elegant gold monograms entirely set with rose cut diamonds. The enamel panel is framed with delicate floral motifs all around. The bale as well as the outer circle is beautifully gold chased, reflecting a refined craftsmanship. The pendant is numbered (4881) and stamped with the French horse head for 18K gold inside of the enameled cover plate. It dated back to the late 19th century, the Victorian era.

Watches worn on chains around the neck date back to the 16th century, but they became even more popular and began to evolve in design between the 18th and 20th centuries.

Even though the watch function is no more working on this pendant, when it is worn, the dial on the back still represents the passing hours and minutes. It is a true beautiful piece of jewelry which reminds us how precious time is.
