Curiously timeless

Victorian era 18K gold enamel angel and swallow pearl brooch

€0

In front of us a very refined example of a French made, 18K gold brooch featuring a sweet angel, riding on a crescent and holding two swallows in his hand. The face and the wings of the angel are enameled in beautiful brown, pink and blue colors; while the moon and the swallow are decorated with 16 seed pearls. The eyes of the swallows are sparkled with 2 red colored stones. The brooch is dated back to the middle of the 19th century, the Victorian era.

Angels, cherubs or cupid jewelry boomed in the Georgian and Victorian eras as a sentimental symbol of love. And since swallow chooses one mate for life, it is a symbol of loyalty. The idea of combining Angel and swallow as a strong symbol of love dates back centuries and still continues today. Although emblematic in various modern incarnations, it is never more sentimental and unique than in antique jewelry.

If you are looking for a special way to express your love and friendship at the end of this year, this very lovely angel and swallow brooch is your perfect choice.

The other angel brooch in the photo is also available and listed in a separate listing in the shop.
