Antique 18K gold lion and sword signet ring

€0

For sale a 19th century 18K gold signet ring adorned with two regal lions, each wielding a sword in hand.

At the heart of this ring lies a scene, where the two lions stand poised in a battle that transcends time and space. One lion, encapsulated within a bottle-like container, symbolizes containment and control, while the other, perched atop the bottle, exudes strength and determination. Surrounding them, cloud-shaped bubbles add an air of mystique, hinting at the ethereal nature of the conflict unfolding.

The symbolism inherent in the lions, the kings of the animal kingdom, wielding swords speaks volumes of power, courage, and resilience. Yet, the interpretation of this scene is left to the imagination of its next caretaker with his/her own story to be told.

This substantial ring carries a weight of 15g, signifying its importance and enduring value. A statement piece destined to become a cherished family treasure, passed down from generation to generation.

The signet ring has its origins 4,000 years ago and it was first worn to show the wearer’s social class. It was also used to impose its authority or to seal commercial transactions. Moreover, jewels represented, for the Egyptians, a protection against the threats.

The ring is resizable at buyer’s cost, please contact us before passing your order.
