Curiously timeless

French 1940s Retro vintage diamond ruby 18K gold tank ring

€1,600

Only 1 piece in stock!

For sale a typical tank ring from the 1940s, marked by its massive use of 18K yellow gold, geometric motifs combined with a line of 6 rose cut diamonds closely set in the middle of two lines of purplish red rubies cut in baguettes.

The quality of the workmanship is very good: the lines are clean and straight; the angles on each side are equal; and the design is well balanced. The diamond weights circa 0.4ct in total. The rubies are probably synthetic like many rubies used in the jewelry of this type.

For the second time in the century, the outbreak of war changed again the style of the jewelry making in the 1940s. Bold, massive jewels were made to suit the outlook of the women during the war: masculine, well-tailored suits of military inspirations since women took up the jobs left vacant by men, whether in industry, in commerce or in offices. This ring is also a historical piece as a prove of the increasing women’s power during and after the SWW.

The ring is resizable at buyer’s cost, please contact us for this before you pass your order.
