Rare Georgian era enamel flower egg salt bottle locket pendant

€900

Only 1 piece in stock!

For sale a very rare French antique salt bottle dated back to the early 19th century, circa 1830s. The little bottle still opens and closes well allowing you to safely preserve and cherish something dear to your heart today.

We adore the lovely egg-shaped form of the bottle and its white enamel body color which are both rare to find today. Each flower on the pendant is meticulously painted with precision and artistry, ensuring that they complement and harmonize with one another. The motifs on the cap echo those on the bottom, creating a sense of symmetry. The attention to detail in the painting is truly remarkable, with every petal, stem, and color nuance carefully depicted, capturing the essence of nature's delicate beauty. The colors imbue a gentle and soothing aura, reminiscent of a refreshing spring breeze, evoking feelings of tranquility and joy.

The salt bottles, an essential accessory for women enclosed in their corsets during the 18th century, could be contained in small reticles or suspended from a ring, very often, by an enameled chain. These rings were mostly worn at parties or balls to prevent women from fainting (usually due to their tight clothes) and the small bottle was held in the palm of the hand.

Similar models to this one can be found in the jewelry collection at the Museum of Decorative Art in Paris (Galerie des bijoux). See one of the pictures.

As beautiful as a small objet d’art, this extraordinary salt bottle locket pendant will bring you the timeless elegance, beauty of nature and the tenderness of cherished memories.

The chain on the photo is not included in the listing.
