Impressive French antique 18K gold Bacchus miniature portrait pendant
Green leaves as crown, bunches of velvet red grapes as hair, oversized glass of wine in hand, this beautiful lady is looking at you with a mischievous smile!
This rare and very large enameled miniature portrait, dated back to the 19th century, shows many intriguing details making me wondering who the lady is and what she does in life; Is she the representation of Bacchus (as we believe), who is the nature god of fruitfulness and vegetation, especially known as a god of wine? Or just a lady who enjoys the accompany of a good glass of wine like many of us?
A part the excellent craftsmanship on the enamel, we also enjoy the color harmony of the enameling: the calming yellowish green matches perfectly with the deep Bordeaux color, while the white dress brightens the tone in general, making a lively interaction with the different tones. This large sized portrait is in excellent antique condition despite its age, which makes it even rarer to be found.

In very good antique condition. No missing or crack on the enamel.
The enameled miniature portrait is dated back form the 19th century and mounted in 18k gold by my jeweler.
