This 19th-century 18k gold cross pendant stands out as an exceptional treasure not only for its dazzling Perpignan garnets but also for its rare design. At the heart of this exquisite piece lies a delicate floral motif, intricately crafted in the center of the cross.
The cross is made of 19 sparkling Perpignan garnets, measuring from 3mm the smallest to 6mm the largest in diameter. The Perpignan garnets, rose cut and foiled back, are renowned for their deep, rich red firy hue. The floral motif represents renewal and the interconnectedness of nature and faith, making this pendant an inspiring symbol for the wearer. Such intricate embellishments are rarely found in Perpignan garnet crosses, making this piece an extraordinary find for collectors and jewelry enthusiasts.
Adding to its uniqueness, this cross pendant is designed on a larger scale compared to most antique Perpignan garnet crosses we found. Its grand proportions not only enhance its visual impact but also highlight the luxurious materials. The cross is stamped with the French owl hallmark for 18K gold on the bale.

The region is located near the foothills of the Pyrenees and the north-east border of Spain. Local garnets were faceted like rose cut diamonds and they are set in gold and foiled to a distinctive deep-pink hue and its unique characteristics reflected the influence of both from France and from Spain.
