Victorian era 14K trembling enameled fish pin brooch
For sale an exquisite 19th-century 14K gold trembling pin brooch, a captivating tribute to nature's wonders. The brooch features a delicately enameled little fish, its body meticulously adorned with enamel to emulate the shimmering scales of a real fish. The gradient colors of the enamel show a mix of grey, yellow, blue and red colors. We are very impressed by the work realized on such a tiny surface. The eyes and the tail of the fish are decorated with rose-cut diamonds and pink sapphires, surrounded by two natural pearls on the sides. The pin is stamped with the French shell hallmark for 14K gold.
What sets this brooch apart is its unique mechanism, allowing the little fish to move back and forth, mimicking a swimming motion. This whimsical feature not only showcases the ingenious craftsmanship of the era but also brings the piece to life, making it a delightful addition to any jewelry collection.
A true example of a novelty pin from the 19th century, this brooch reflects the period's burgeoning fascination with nature and its creatures. It is an extraordinary find, as it is our first known fish pin of its kind that can 'swim.'
Delicate yet perfectly crafted, this brooch is a must-have for any animal jewelry lovers or any antique brooch lovers.
