Art Nouveau 18k gold pearl twin star medal pendant
In front of us a very attractive and unusual Art Nouveau era 18K gold medal pendant, featuring a rare Swiss enamel in metallic colors: the color changes from an olive green to a mineral grey under different lightings. The enamel shows an intriguing satiny finish from its relief– it shines magically as something we’ve never seen! The enamel is a work from Switzerland.
On the enamel, two children are holding a long garland in their hands. We believe that they represent Castor and Pollux, the twin stars in the Geek and Roman mythology. They are always considered as the protectors of the home and friendship.
Also, Castor and Pollux are two stars shine prominently in the evening skies of the Northern Hemisphere spring each year, with Pollux, which is slightly brighter than Castor. Pollux and Castor are noticeable for being bright and close together. That’s likely how the early stargazers came to identify them as twins.
The enamel panel is surrounded by another elegant white enamel and the pendant has a very beautiful frame of maple leaves, which is typical to the Art Nouveau era. It finishes with a creamy pearl at the bottom of the pendant.
The grace, symbolism and very high level of craftsmanship make this pendant a rare and exceptional piece to collect and to offer.
