For sale a 19th century 18K gold ring featuring a crowned heart. The center of the heart is made of an oval shaped ruby of a deep purplish red color. The gem is surrounded by numerous rose cut diamonds. The gemstones are set with open backs and are firstly mounted on silver and then on 18K yellow gold.

This type of ring was given in betrothal or during a wedding ceremony, as diamonds are associated with marriage, a continuing symbol of virtue and constancy in the marriage union. The deep red color of the ruby represents passionate love and Venus, the goddess of love. Gemstones set in heart shapes were a common design for marriage rings. On this ring, there is a little crown on top of the heart. This crown on top of the heart signifies love triumphant and serves as a powerful emblem of loyalty.

This ring is truly a collector's item, embodying deep sentiments and historical designs. Similar models can be found in the book “The Art of the ring” (Page 101) or “The power of love” (Page 69).
