The listing is updated for D, including the 18k gold chain as shown on the photos.

For sale a beautiful 19th century cross pendant made of 10 sparkling Perpignan garnets. The Perpignan garnets, rose cut and foiled back, are renowned for their deep, rich red hue. They lend an enchanting allure to the pendant, creating a stunning symphony of firy purplish red color that captures the essence of this legendary gemstone.

This type of garnet jewellery was in vogue during the late 18th centuries and early 19th centuries and they were made in (as their name indicates) Perpignan, France. The region is located near the foothills of the Pyrenees and the north-east border of Spain. Local garnets were faceted like rose cut diamonds and they are set in gold and foiled to a distinctive deep-pink hue and its unique characteristics reflected the influence of both from France and from Spain.

Today, only a few artisans in the South of the France of the region still have the “savoir-faire” to create breath taking Catalan garnet jewelry, to remind us of its legend and story.

Whether worn as a symbol of faith, a nod to history, or simply as a breathtaking accessory, our 19th-century Cross Pendant with Perpignan garnets is a testament to the timeless beauty that transcends generations.
